During the holiday season, we tend to call our loves ones and family to ask them how they are doing and to greet them Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. But some people and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) think that they have to shorten their calls to their family and loves because of the high rates telecom providers charge, now they don’t have to. Ofw’s can call your love ones for free thru Skype. What is Skype? Skype is a VOIP or Voice Over Internet Protocol application for which an Overseas Filipino Workers or OFW’s can get free calls to their loves ones this holiday season and connect to their love ones, to their family and friends for free.

Skype is the most popular voice communication service in the world. It has change the way people think about calling long distance abroad and is has broken many barriers to communication. While in the past you needed to take note of the minutes and even the seconds you spend speaking on international calls, you now have a choice. You no longer need to worry about that now. You can use Skype to make PC to PC communication to call your loves and family. You pay nothing more than the monthly Internet or DSL service, which you would anyway have paid without Skype.

Though Skype, it has changed how people communicate with its integration of voice calls and IM (Instant Messaging) into one simple application. You can talk when you want and type when you want and you can switch between the two as you wish, easily and for free.

Skype has excellent voice quality and video, yes that’s video so that OFW’s can not only talk to their love ones and families but also see them and hear them in real time. All you need is a computer and an internet connection and you can talk to your love ones, family and friends for hours for free.

With the use of Skype, Overseas Filipino Workers or Ofw’s and migrants can save thousands of dollars in their telephone bills. With it they will be able to see the faces of their love ones and family and hear their voices for free. It makes the long distance and the holidays more meaningful by bringing families and friends together no matter where they are in the world.

Yes, it is still possible with the help of micro financing institutions. One of the most effective ways to start a business is through micro financing.

Micro financing is one of the best ways to provide financial services to micro and small enterprises. It provides small loans to micro and small enterprises. One of the best ways to help grow a business of through the effective use of loans.

The Key to getting the most of your loans under the micro financing programs are:

1.First check your capacity to pay a loan. You understand that the money you will loan will come from other people and it should be paid back at the agreed time of the loan.

2. You should monitor and manage the cash flow of your business so that you will know how much money your business generates.

3. You should also take into consideration that a loan that is paid on time gives way for you to be able to loan a larger amount of money the next time you avail of a loan.

The main difference between micro financing and any loan from a bank or other financial institutions is that there is no collateral needed for a microfinance loan which makes it easier for micro and small enterprises to get the much needed funds for their business. The only requirement is the signatures of your friends or relatives. In that way the loan of one is the loan of all.

Every Filipino working abroad should save and invest the hard earn money. Below are tips on how OFW’s can save and not waste their hard earned money and live the life they want in the future.

1. Every OFW should assess their income. Ofws should only invest in a property if they have carefully planned and checked it if they can afford it. Overseas Filipino Workers are earning higher compared to before when they were still earning in Philippines. This is the upside of working abroad but the option to buy a property or a condominium needs careful consideration. The advantages of owning a property is that you can call it as your own, it has sentimental value especially it’s the first property the ofw bought. Also its value appreciates over time. Investing property must be a priority, if the ofw’s earnings and salary would allow it.

2. Avoid spending on expensive items and luxuries. Buying material things such as expensive a watches or a brand new car, things you couldn’t afford before, is not advisable. There are stories that some Overseas Filipino Workers tend to be impulsive buyers due to the increase in income. Ofw’s sometimes ignore important things such as investing on income generating assets like bonds and government securities, which are absolutely important things to acquire for investment purposes.

3. Ofw’s must spend wisely. It is unavoidable to spend on unnecessary things but ofw’s must try to control themselves when faced with that situation. They should always think of main goal and why they need to work abroad in the first place and live miles away from your loved ones. They only want to save as much money as possible so that they can to provide a comfortable life for their family back home.

4. Send an appropriate amount allowance to your family. Try not to give extra money to them. This way, they are forced to organize their expenses and make them prioritize, more important importantly teach them how to fish and not just keep on giving them the fish so to speak.

5. Keep your family updated. It is also crucial to be open to your family. Tell them what is happening to you, both positive and negative. Letting them know your situation will give them an idea on how they can support and inspire you, in their own little ways. The internet can provide you with free tools to communicate with your love ones for free.

These are just basic guidelines for Overseas Filipino Workers who truly want save their money and pursue their dreams.

6. Every OFW should assess their income. Ofws should only invest in a property only if they have carefully planned and check if they can afford in the long term. Overseas Filipino Workers are earning higher compared to before when they were still earning in Philippines.

9. Send an appropriate amount allowance to your family. Try not to give extra money to them. This way, they are forced to organize their expenses and make them prioritize, more important importantly teach them how to fish and not just keep on giving them the fish so to speak.

10. Keep your family updated. It is also crucial to be open to your family. Tell them what is happening to you, both positive and negative. Letting them know your situation will give them an idea on how they can support and inspire you, in their own little ways.
